Zelkova Quartet
7:30pm, St. John Smith’s Square, London
Tonight the Zelkova Quartet present two of the greatest and most loved pieces of French chamber music, the quartets of Debussy and Ravel. Debussy was a rare champion of Ravel’s youthful quartet when it was completed in 1903, ordering him to ‘not touch a single note’ in the face of harsh treatment from critics and teachers. The quartet are very excited to give the premiere of a new piece by Ryan Latimer, who has already amassed an impressive body of inventive and individual work for orchestras and ensembles across the country.
